How to Play Grid

Fill the 3x3 grid with players who match both the row and column clues. Think you know your sports? Prove it.

What is Grid?

Grid is a daily sports trivia puzzle inspired by the popular Immaculate Grid. You're given a 3x3 grid where each row and column has a clue — like a team name, an award, a stat threshold, or a college. Your job is to name a player for each cell who satisfies both clues at once.

The challenge is finding players who fit the intersection of two criteria. The rarer your answer compared to other players, the higher your rarity score.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. 1Look at the 3x3 grid with 3 row clues on the left and 3 column clues on top.
  2. 2Tap any empty cell to select it. You'll see both the row and column clue for that cell.
  3. 3Search for a player who satisfies BOTH the row clue and the column clue.
  4. 4Select a player from the search results to fill the cell.
  5. 5If the player is correct, the cell turns green. If wrong, you lose one of your 9 guesses.
  6. 6Fill all 9 cells before running out of guesses to win.
  7. 7Rarer correct answers earn higher rarity scores — aim for picks other players wouldn't think of!

Tips & Strategies

  • Start with the hardest cells — they have the fewest valid answers.
  • Think of journeyman players who played for many teams — they fit more cells.
  • Don't reuse the same player in multiple cells — each player can only be used once.
  • Go for obscure picks to maximize rarity score.
